AWARDS
To submit a paper for either the Best Professional Paper Award or the Best Graduate Student Paper Award, email two copies of the paper to Inman Chahine, Director of Awards (Iman_Chahine@uml.edu). One copy should have contact information for all authors of the paper. The other should be a blind copy to share with the reviewers. Please indicate if the paper is being submitted for the Best Professional Paper Award competition or the Best Graduate Student Paper Award competition. Papers submitted after the deadline will not be reviewed.
The deadline to submit papers is November 25, 2022.
Best Professional Paper Award
· Paper presented at the EERA Conference
· First author is a professor or other educational professional
· Automatic acceptance to present at AERA the following year
· Awarded $500 toward travel expenses to present at AERA*
· Only one paper submission may be made per author
· Must be original research suitable for publication in a professional research journal**
Best Graduate Student Paper Award
· Paper presented at the EERA Conference
· First author is a graduate student
· Student winner awarded free registration for the following EERA Conference
· Must be original research suitable for publication in a professional research journal*
*Travel funding to AERA is subject to the fiscal resources of EERA.
** Dissertations, book reviews, editorial articles and conceptual papers will not be considered for the Best Professional or Best Graduate Student Paper awards.
The winning best professional paper and best graduate student paper will be invited for publication in the Journal of Research in Education.
Emerging Scholar Award
Purpose: The Eastern Educational Research Association Emerging Scholar Award recognizes an EERA scholar for the following: outstanding theoretical and/or applied research that contributes to the national professional body of knowledge about education and demonstrated excellence in teaching, advising, and/or mentoring.
Criteria:
· Demonstrated accomplishment in teaching to include instruction and student development
· A record of accomplishment in the integration of teaching and research and/or theoretical research disseminated through EERA platforms, which contributes to the body of knowledge in the nominee’s area of study
Senior Scholar Award
Purpose: The Eastern Educational Research Association Senior Scholar Award recognizes an EERA scholar for the following: outstanding theoretical and/or applied research that contributes to the professional body of knowledge about education; and demonstrated excellence in teaching, advising, and/or mentoring.
Criteria:
· Demonstrated accomplishment in teaching to include instruction and student development
· A record of superior accomplishment in the integration of teaching and research and/or theoretical research disseminated through EERA platforms, which contributes to the body of knowledge in the nominee’s area of study
· A distinguished record of guiding, mentoring, encouraging students to share their prospective research at EERA Annual Conferences, and apply to Best
Distinguished Service Award
Purpose: The Eastern Educational Research Association Distinguished Service Award is intended to recognize exemplary contributions to EERA through leadership activities, mentoring of others, and/or ongoing participation in EERA activities.
Eligibility: Must be a current or former member of EERA.
Criteria:
· Outstanding service to EERA or stakeholders
· Motivation of others by personal example and/or by deeds
· Contributions that support the mission of EERA
Nominations and Supporting Materials:
A current EERA member must nominate candidates for the Distinguished Service Award. Please submit the following: 1) a single letter of nomination, 2) two additional letters of support, and 3) a curriculum vitae. Please place all documents in one pdf file.
All submissions for each award (e.g., Senior Scholar Award, Emerging Scholar Award, and Distinguished Service Award) will be evaluated by a three-person committee comprised of individuals from the general membership of EERA.

Submissions must be sent to the Director of Awards and Sponsorships, Iman Chahine email: Iman_Chahine@uml.edu, by Friday November 25, 2022. Award winners will be announced by the second Monday in December. Award winners will be recognized at the following EERA conference.
