About EERA
The Eastern Educational Research Association is an organization for educational professionals interested in conducting and disseminating research that improves education for all in both formal and non-formal settings. EERA was created in 1977 and for over 40 years has been one of this country’s successful educational research organizations. EERA is affiliated with the American Educational Research Association.
EERA members meet at an annual conference in February or early March. Members’ research is disseminated through 16 divisions and 22 Special Interest Groups (SIGs). The organization is administered through a Board of Directors elected by the membership. The organization awards an Outstanding Paper Award during the annual Conference along with several other awards, including Emerging Scholar and Service to the Association. EERA also sponsors the publication of the Journal of Research in Education.

Message from the President
Dear EERA members,
I hope this message finds you and yours in the best of health and spirit!
Thanks to you, we had a great 2022 conference at Clearwater, Florida in February. And, thank you for sharing your positive comments with our board members during and after the conference. We are glad to know that you not only enjoyed the time presenting and networking with colleagues and newly made friends but also the food and the facilities.
As we look forward, I am thrilled that the 2023 conference to be held in-person at Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, February 9-11. The conference call and the specifics will be announced on our organizational website (https://www.eeraorganization.org/)
As always, in addition to the natural beauty offered by Myrtle Beach, you will find yourself surrounded by many social and networking opportunities, whether you are a faculty, researcher, practitioner, or student. We continue offering a variety of presentation formats - a tradition that has been enjoyed by you, such as Birds of a Feather and Poster sessions. We are also incorporating a few new venues such as Excursion-for-Food groups and student-focused mentoring/workshop sessions. We love to have you join us at Myrtle Beach!
Also, new initiatives are underway as we want to engage with you more and hear directly from you more so that we can better serve you. The very first Presidential Webinar Series Part I was launched last summer, containing three webinar videos speaking to educational leadership. We are excited to bring Part II to you in the following months:
March: Conversation with Dr. Anna Sun (Rowan University)
April: Conversation with Dr. Tiedan Huang (Fordham University)
May: Conversation with Dr. Jingping Sun (University of Alabama)
June: Conversation with Dr. Jiangang Xia (University of Nebraska, Lincoln)
Lastly, I would like to invite you to get more involved with EERA. We always look for talents like you to be part of the EERA team. Please do not hesitate to reach to the board members in areas of your interests, such as serving as reviewer for the EERA official journal, outreach and branding specialist, video and graphic designer, and to name a few. With the other members on the leadership team, together, we remain committed to serve you and the broader educational communities for justice, equity, and growth.
With warm regards,
Grace J. Liang, PhD
EERA President
