A NOTE ABOUT THIS YEAR:
A thank you to all of you who recently participated in our survey about the 2021 conference. Based off of the survey results the Board of Directors has determined that a face-to-face conference in February would not be workable for most of you, and the decision has been made to have a virtual 2021 conference instead. But, instead of seeing the glass half-empty, let us embrace the opportunity of virtual living in the 21st Century! No worries about hotel reservations, travel, or expense reports.
Today is the official Call for Proposals, which will run until December 4th, and I want to point out some changes you will see in the proposal system. Here is the link to submit your proposals:
Even if you are a returning presenter from a previous conference, you will need to re-create your username and password as, for security purposes, we delete all username/passwords after each conference. Since we will be meeting virtually, there will not be Roundtable, Poster, or Birds of a Feather sessions this year. Instead, we are combining what you know as Poster and Roundtable presentations into the new category of Short Presentations. These presentations will be slightly shorter than full paper presentations and also have a lower bar for acceptance than a full paper, with the criteria for acceptance being very similar to Roundtable and Poster presentations guidelines of past years. Also, if accepted, a Short presentation will submit a shareable paper or summary of research as part of the presentation, though not to the same standards as are expected of a full paper. Additionally, for all submissions, we are asking that you include an optional brief biography paragraph plus a picture. Research shows that the more potential attendees know about a speaker, the more likely they are to attend the session.
Registration for the conference will be available soon, as we currently work with our conference software provider to make our transition to the online platform. It is expected that the registration fee will be $125 for professional and $50 for student, but I will send out an email at a later date with the official prices. The conference virtual hub will record all presentations and allow unlimited access to registrants for up to 90 days after the conference is over, so you won’t have to worry about missing sessions! Sessions will be available on any platform, including cell phones and tablet devices for maximum convenience.

The Eastern Educational Research Association is an organization for educational professionals interested in conducting and disseminating research that improves education for all in both formal and non-formal settings. EERA was created in 1977 and for over 40 years has been one of this country’s successful educational research organizations. EERA is affiliated with the American Educational Research Association.
EERA members meet at an annual conference in February or early March. Members’ research is disseminated through 16 divisions and 22 Special Interest Groups (SIGs). The organization is administered through a Board of Directors elected by the membership. The organization awards an Outstanding Paper Award during the annual Conference along with several other awards, including Emerging Scholar and Service to the Association. EERA also sponsors the publication of the Journal of Research in Education.

The Eastern Researcher newsletter is published approximately three times yearly with a Spring issue (post-conference), Summer issue (Call for Proposals), and a Winter issue (pre-conference).
